SECRET ART PROJECT:

CoCreative

Narrative strategy + creative direction for leaders whose work deserves better than “content.”

I partner with scholars, founders, and mission-driven teams to shape a public voice with clarity, emotional truth, and taste—so your ideas land like a story people can feel and repeat.

If your work is complex, tender, controversial, or culturally charged: good. That’s the point. I help you make it accessible without flattening it.

You get deliverables like: brand narrative, messaging, longform copy, podcast strategy/production direction, and story-first media systems.

Podcast / Media Ecosystem Design

When your ideas need legs.

  • show concept, format, tone, audience promise

  • launch messaging + trailer direction

  • sustainable workflow and episode architecture

Outcome: your media becomes a home people return to.

Fractional Creative Direction (Ongoing)

When you need a steady creative brain in the mix.

  • monthly retainer for messaging, creative direction, and editorial oversight

  • content ecosystem planning (what you’re making + why + cadence)

  • collaboration with designers/editors/producers

Outcome: you make fewer things—but they land harder.

Grant + Public Engagement Story

When the grant needs a story people can actually follow.

  • public engagement plans with narrative coherence

  • translating research into story-first assets (articles, scripts, short videos)

  • editing proposals/reports with funder logic and human readability

Outcome: your impact becomes visible, not just documented.

Hi, I’m Sarey…

…filmmaker, narrative strategist, and the founder of SAP: CoCreative and Secret Art Project.

I’ve spent a decade inside the entertainment industry and another inside academia and the nonprofit world, which means I’m fluent in high-stakes personalities, complex ideas, and the gap between what people mean and what they actually say.

As an artist, I’m drawn to liminal spaces—faith and doubt, beauty and dread, the seen and unseen. As a consultant, I bring that same sensitivity into the strategy room so your work doesn’t lose its soul on the way to the public.

I have roots in Los Angeles and Portland. After a decade in the music and film industries, I earned a master’s degree and moved into the grant world. I’m both an artist and an entrepreneur, which means I think in terms of scenes, stakes, and structure as much as deliverables and deadlines.

If you’re building something that matters and you want language + media that can hold it, email me and tell me what you’re building, what’s stuck, and what you need in the next 90 days.

contact: sarey@secretartproject.com

I’m not the right fit if you want:

  • generic marketing, “growth hacks,” or content churn

  • an overtly “safe” message that avoids saying anything real at all costs

  • frantic timelines that don’t allow for tone, craft, or truth

  • performative values without actual conviction

If you do want clarity, courage, craft, and a story with a pulse—it could work!

Media Production

I’ve produced and directed dozens of educational, explainer, interview, and promotional videos for clients and partners — bringing the same cinematic eye I use in my narrative films to real-world ideas and stories.

For details about this type of content or for more examples of what’s possible for your project, email me.

In the example above, I partnered with animator Matthew Halbert-Howen to create a short piece for Dr. Brandon Vaidyanathan, drawing on a rushed, lo-fi interview with Dr. Charles Taylor at a symposium. Through careful editing and visual storytelling, we turned that raw footage into a poetic exploration of his book Cosmic Connections: Poetry in the Age of Disenchantment.

I want to hear about your projects and goals.
